Which will it be?

Updated: Nov 27, 2021

We’re keeping the momentum going!

On Saturday, November 27th, we are seeing several properties, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, one of which may be the future site of Ortolana Ranch! Each of these properties satisfy some of our search criteria, and some are a better fit than others. Here is the list of properties we will see, in order of best to least fit.

At the top of the list...

1.) The Old Farm House. It is amazing how the universe works. A few days after we finally wrote down what we were looking for, a property meeting pretty much ALL our search criteria came onto the market. While this is an old farmhouse, it has been nicely maintained, especially inside. The outside could use some refreshing but there is 10 acres of treed, remote land; 4 bedrooms and a guest house (which needs a lot of work); a few outbuildings; it is 50-minutes from work; it is in our price range; and it is close to Lake Corpus Christi. Lots of potential here!

2.) The Desert Oasis. This property has been on our radar for quite a while. It meets so many of our criteria! The only thing we are hesitant about is it only has 2 acres of land. Other than that, it really looks like a ranch! There is beautiful landscaping; a chicken coop; a green house; it is in a remote area; it is near Lake Corpus Christi; it is well-below our maximum price range; and it is spacious! Unfortunately, it is a bit far from work, but the small mortgage would allow us to also maintain an apartment in Corpus Christi. Best of both worlds?

3.) The Posh Meditation Center. This property is so beautiful! It only has 2.5 acres of land and is within city limits, but it just screams retreat center! The inside is HUGE and has an awesome retro vibe. I can definitely see us holding events in the massive living area with the vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. It is in an up-and-coming area and we believe the value of the property will continue to grow over time; it seems like a great investment!

Other properties we are seeing. Perhaps, there is a dark horse among them?

4.) A wonderful home with magnificent views of Lake Corpus Christi, perfect for our gardening needs! It even has a guest house! There are only two acres but this land is already cleared and ready for planting. However, it is a little bit far from work. Will the beauty of the location win us over?

5.) A remote home with LOTS of land, a whopping 21 acres! But home needs some refreshing, and this property is overpriced.

6.) A remote home with 5 acres with a guest house. But both home and guest house need refreshing, and the property is located near a lot of commercial farmland; we are concerned about pesticide use. However, the price is low.

Which do you think we should choose? Let us know in the comments!
